Blykalla has selected NCC as the construction partner for its new test facility in Oskarshamn, developed in collaboration with Uniper Sweden. The facility, located at the OKG nuclear power plant on the Simpevarp Peninsula, will play a key role in advancing Blykalla’s lead-cooled SMR technology and marks an important step toward deploying Europe’s first advanced SMR.
The test facility will be the first building constructed on a nuclear power site in Sweden in over 40 years, reinforcing Sweden’s position at the forefront of next-generation nuclear innovation. NCC, a leading construction company with extensive experience in complex infrastructure projects, will be responsible for the construction of the test facility, including site preparations and necessary installations.

Construction will begin in February and is expected to be completed by June 2025.
