Blykalla is pleased to welcome Kwadwo Adutwum to our team as Core Design and Safety Analysis Engineer. With extensive experience in nuclear core design and safety analysis, Kwadwo brings valuable expertise to support Blykalla’s mission of developing next-generation nuclear reactors.
Kwadwo’s background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering through a dual enrollment between South Carolina State University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, followed by a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University in New York City. His career began at Xcel Energy, where he focused on core fuel calculations and reactor base model designs for the Prairie Island Pressurized Water Reactor units. He then expanded his expertise at Dominion Energy in nuclear core reload design, performing cycle calculations, control room startup testing, and developing reactor models for safe operation.
Most recently, Kwadwo was part of Holtec International’s team for Small Modular Reactor (SMR) development, working on core assembly design, safety reviews, and control rod configurations to advance SMR technology. His experience with reactor design, modeling, and regulatory standards will be instrumental in Blykalla’s initiatives to deliver innovative, safe, and efficient energy solutions.
Kwadwo’s role at Blykalla will focus on advancing reactor core design and safety analysis, applying his technical insights from years in commercial nuclear power. His experience with the complexities of core fuel systems, model validation, and safety protocols uniquely positions him to contribute to Blykalla’s development of cutting-edge reactor technologies. As part of the team, Kwadwo will engage in cross-functional projects that bring together engineering precision and innovative design, essential for meeting the evolving demands of clean energy. With his skills and commitment to impactful work, Kwadwo’s contributions will support Blykalla’s ambitious goals to drive advancements in the nuclear energy sector.
